Musical program by nationally renowned artist José-Luis Orozco

In a rare appearance the School of Dual Language enjoyed a musical program by nationally renowned artist José-Luis Orozco.

Bilingual singer Orozco prides himself in providing rich Latin American culture through his music shared with schoolchildren. On a recent day he entertained the Vernon Hills Dual Language children in grades kindergarten through five.

Mr. Orozco is a bilingual educator, children’s author, and recording artist who has dedicated his life to creating quality bilingual music, books, and videos for children. He encourages learning of the Spanish language and promotes Latin American culture through his art.

(Learning And Playing) Program Holiday Party

Some 80 students in the School of Dual Language’s Aprendiendo y Jugando (Learning and Playing) program enjoyed a holiday party and gifts thanks to generous local merchants. The after school program provides additional instructional support and recreational opportunities to students.

“The vast majority of the students who participate in the program live in a low-income household. The holiday celebration supplements the Christmas season for some of the students and their families who may be struggling financially,” said Dual Language Principal James Tohme.
