Aprendiendo/Jugando

Students from the Dual Language School attending Aprendiendo/Jugando had lots of fun at Party Fantasy on Saturday, April 18.  The Tran Family sponsored this wonderful activity as a memorial to their son Zack’s 18th birthday.  Over two hundred students and parents attended this event along with many volunteers and teachers.  Aprendiendo/Jugando (Learning & Playing) is an after school  program in which first through fifth graders meet on Mondays to enjoy sports, crafts, snacks, and community chats that reinforce positive choices and character formation. The program is housed at the Hawthorn School for Dual Language located at the Townline building.  Thanks to the big heart of many volunteer families from our community, administrators, and staff, A/J celebrates its 24th anniversary this year.

You can find more pictures of the event in the DL Photo Gallery.

Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.)

In honor of beloved author Beverly Cleary’s birthday, our entire building took part in
Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.) Day on  Monday, April 13th.  Wherever the students were at that time, they stopped everything else and read a book, a magazine, a t-shirt or anything else that they could find words on.
Enjoy some photos from that fun day here, and many more in the School of Dual Language Photo Gallery.
