Hawthorn takes school closings very seriously. Should schools close due to inclement weather or other unforeseen reasons, the district uses an automated emergency notification system to send a recorded voice message to each student’s home telephone number, as provided during registration. Parents have the option of managing their emergency notifications by logging in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal to change telephone numbers, request text messaging, and request email messaging. For more information on how Hawthorn determines school closings, please click here.
We are currently experiencing an outage with the phone system at Elementary South, Middle School South, Townline and the School of Dual Language. We are currently working to restore the system as soon as possible. If you have an emergency please contact the District Office at: 847.990.4200

Elementary schools welcomed parents and students attending annual “Get Acquainted” events. In addition to the School of Dual Language, these events are taking place today at Elementary South, Elementary North, Townline and Aspen. Families met teachers and dropped off school supplies.
