Building a Stronger Community

The Board of Education is aligning its efforts with the Hawthorn Strategic Plan by building a stronger connection with the community through improved volunteer opportunities, helping families with early intervention programs, and strengthening the district’s relationship with its business community.

While still in their infancy stages the Hawthorn District 73 programs include parenting and education classes for parents who have children under the age of 4-years-old headed by Principal Kathryn Waggoner, creating a formal volunteer program headed by Principal Victoria Kieffer, and developing an educational foundation headed by Principal Jill Martin. Look for news of these initiatives in the late summer or early fall.

Thanks to the School Leadership Team

The Hawthorn School District 73 Administrative Team would like to thank the members of each School Leadership Team (SLT) for the 2015-2016 school year. The SLTs provide critical leadership concerning all areas of Hawthorn schools.  The members of these teams dedicate a tremendous amount of time to plan, implement and monitor school improvement efforts.  Oftentimes the teachers participating in these groups represent their buildings in other leadership roles around the district.

Countryside Food Drive

The Countryside Fire Department is seeking school participation in its food drive to help replenish the local food bank. Look for red bins in the schools in which to place nonperishable food items. For more information on the food drive, please click here.
