Classes Take Part in Language/Cultural Exchange

Spanish and English speaking students are learning from each other at the School of Dual Language and Townline. Mrs. Bolender’s second-grade class at Townline visited Ms. Naughton’s second-grade class at the School of Dual Language to learn some basic Spanish sounds. The Townline students wanted to learn how to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. It is a tradition that Dual Language classes recite the Pledge of Allegiance in English and Spanish, while Townline recites it in English. Mrs. Bolender’s class will now be able to recite the pledge in English and Spanish. Kudos to Mrs. Bolender and her students for wanting to branch out and learn the pledge in Spanish! And, Ms. Naughton’s students were impressed to learn that Mrs. Bolender’s students speak other languages at home, such as Korean, Russian, and Cambodian.
