State Senator Talks with Students

State Representative Visits

Fourth graders in the classes of Ms. Velazquez, Ms. Mejia and Ms. Brandt received quite a treat on Friday. Illinois State Representative Carol Sente stopped by to talk with students. She answered many questions about what her job was like and what motivated/inspired her to become a representative.  She also asked the students a number of questions and complimented them on how knowledgable they were.  For instance, students knew the answers to the questions:  what is the state bird (cardinal), what is the state flower (violet), and what is the state animal (white-tailed deer). She stumped them, however, when she asked what was the state reptile. Who would have known it is a turtle.
